Learning Objective: -Today students will start a new unit in US History, "Forming a Government". Students will start by examining where the fathers of the United States looked for inspiration when crafting a new form of government. As a class we will learn about the Magna Carta, the English Bill of Rights, and Enlightenment scholar John Locke. We will then examine a primary source by Locke about "social contracts". Warm Up: -Who was the first President of the United States? How do you know? Assessment: -Students will be assessed based on their submission of the assignment, "Two Treatises of Government: Primary Source Activity".
